Editing XML file: iTest launches Internet Explorer which downloads the file and launches FanfareSVT to open the file When FanfareSVT and iTest are both installed on the same computer: If you set "XML Documents" as associated editors for any iTest file type(e.g. *.fftb), and try to edit an XML document, iTest launches Internet Explorer which downloads the file and launches FanfareSVT to open the file. (Tools>>Preferences>>General>>Editors>>File Associations, any iTest file (e.g. *.fftb) is associated with "XML Document")
This is not a bug in iTest. It has to do with the file associations in the operating system. Because *.fftc is associated with FanfareSVT when FanfareSVT is installed, you won't be able to view *.fftc files in IE. The same thing happens when you try to open *.java in IE. If the customer really wants to edit the XML, which they shouldn't have to do, then they can right click in iTest Explorer > Open with Text Editor. And if they really want to use an external editor, then instead of associating it with "XML Document," they should choose the actual editor.
----------------- Workaround: Best solution: Remove FanfareSVT from the computer. In iTest, do not change the editor associated with Fanfare documents. Not best practice: Right-click the file in iTest Explorer and select Open with Text Editor.
